WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Designed for those considering or new to being self employed. It's a 3 hour workshop with specialist input , delivered in simple language and using appropriate examples and exercises where participants can work on their own business issues.

We will cover:

  • how to make a personal survival budget
  • how to produce a cash flow forecast
  • things to watch out for
  • simple book keeping
  • point of sale - taking money
  • what does being self employed mean?
  • what is profit
  • understanding tax (Income & NI)
  • legalities relating to trading eg H&S, data protection etc.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Pre-start, start-up or growing business that are wanting to get to grips with the financial side of things.

WHO IS EMMA TORRANCE?

Emma Torrance is a Co-Founder of THiNK and a Business Mentor. She has over 20 years experience of providing support to start-up and small businesses, social enterprises, and third sector organisations.

Emma specialises in:

  • understanding money, cashflow and business planning
  • new start and new in business for freelancers and small businesses as a mentor or business advisor
  • problem solving
  • social enterprises across a range of business and financial management areas
  • creative businesses

WHEN IS IT?

Online via Zoom on Wednesday 8 September. Registration from 9.30am with the course starting at 9.45am. We aim to finish 12.30pm.

On the day: Be ready to engage. This is a workshop so please make sure you turn up ready to take part with your mics and cameras on. We will be talking about your business and working as a group.
