An opportunity to find out more about theatre criticism and learn new skills for interpreting performance.
An opportunity to find out more about theatre criticism and learn new skills for interpreting performance with Naomi Obeng, Playwright and critic writing for Exeunt, The Stage and co-editor of Noises Off at the National Student Drama Festival. Learn what goes into a review, how to improve your critical writing, how to separate taste from critical opinion, and steps towards writing experimental and creative criticism.
We’ll look at examples of criticism and work together to think about what a review does, should do, and whether there are any rules at all!
Whether you want to develop your criticism further, want to start writing criticism, or to learn more about how reviews and critics fit into the landscape of theatre in the UK – this will be an opportunity to delve into writing about performance and unlock your own personal approach to it.
Please note that you will receive the Zoom details for this workshop the W/C 5th October. If you require BSL for this workshop please inform Sophie (s.hack@derby.ac.uk) no later than Friday 30th October.
