An introduction into the process of creating plant-based photographic Black & White developers.
A Big House Event supported by Real Creative Futures Digital
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
An introduction into the process of creating plant-based photographic Black & White developers. In this workshop participants will take a walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve and expose a roll of 35mm B&W film whilst foraging plant materials to make their developer. They will then head back to the Nature Centre where we will discuss the science and process of making the developer and subsequently developing the roll of film exposed at the beginning of the day.
Participants will take home an exposed roll of 35mm B&W film, a bottle of plant-based developer and the knowledge and recipes to experiment further and employ plant-based alternative developers in their own practice.
Ideally participants will have some knowledge of using B&W analogue film and the fundamentals of developing as this workshop will be focussed on the creation of the alternative developer as opposed to an introduction to analogue photography as a whole.
35mm cameras and a roll of film will be provided, if you would prefer to use your own 35mm camera then feel free to bring it along.
Participants are encouraged to continue exploring the knowledge gained during workshops and incorporate the processes learned into their practice as they will be invited to submit work to a showcase exhibition in September 2022.
Refreshments on arrival and lunch will be catered by Attenborough Nature Centre and will include meat, fish, vegetarian/vegan options.

HOW DO I BOOK TICKETS?
This event is free, but space is limited. You must be enrolled with The Big House and/or RCF-D.
PLEASE NOTE: The Big House events are free to you, because they are funded – however there is a cost attached to them for us and we are a not-for-profit organisation. So, if you have registered to come, your place will have been paid for. Our events are very popular and we often have a waiting list. With this in mind, if for any reason you are unable to attend it is very important that you cancel your ticket on Eventbrite as soon as possible, to enable someone else to take your place.
If you have already accessed 12 or more hours of support you may be placed on a waiting list - your place is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from RCF-D Team.
