Event information / agenda

A Big House Event supported by Creative Quarter & delivered by Steve Hobbs, Asking Better Questions Ltd

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Our customers determine the success or failure of our ventures. Our intimate knowledge and understanding of how they behave - what they like and don’t like, what jobs they are trying to get done - drives our success by ensuring a fit with what we have to offer them.

This is all complicated by the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment in which we are trading. We need to be close to our customers and suppliers and be flexible in how we plan for and respond to change.

That demands tools and approaches that enable us to respond quickly and effectively as the environment changes and our customers change. We need to adopt a mindset and develop the skills to accommodate whatever the market throws at us.

In the workshop the participants will

• be introduced to lean start-up approaches

• learn to use the Value Proposition Canvas as a tool for exploring and exploiting opportunities for value creation

• be introduced to the principles of experimentation in testing assumptions and ideas

• understand the need to adjust our thinking and pivot our business models should our existing approaches become ineffective

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • SME owners and managers
  • Sole traders in service based businesses
  • Business innovators
  • Product and service designers
  • Anyone marketing themselves and their products to customers

WHO IS STEVE HOBBS?

This workshop will be facilitated by Steve Hobbs from Ask Better Questions Ltd. Steve is an experienced business owner and employer, leader and manager. The tools of his trade are questions. The aim is to ask better questions…Ones that promote thought, challenge assumptions, clarify ideas, enable decision making, inspire action.

Steve says that "There has been time to observe those around me lead, manage, plan and execute. What have I learned? Leaders who focus on the ‘Why', then the ‘How' and finally the ‘What' create teams and organisations that get things done."
