About this Event

A Big House Event supported by Real Creative Futures Digital

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

This workshop provides a practical guide to making YouTube videos, and is intended to help those new to video production, or who want to broaden their skills. Topics covered include a discussion of shooting video on smartphones, compact cameras, camcorders or DSLRs, as well as lighting, grip, microphones and other audio equipment. Also detailed will be the editing process and editing styles, creating titles and other graphics, video and audio file formats, and choosing a video editor and other software. To assist with the later, there will be a comparison and demonstrations of several freely available packages, including Kdenlive, HitFilm Express, DaVinci Resolve, Audacity and GIMP. During the workshop a short video will be shot and edited, and participants will be invited to be involved in this practical demonstration

If participants wish, there may be some discussion of how to optimize video content to achieve the most views and to generate revenue. However, this topic is covered in depth in the sister workshop “Building Your Business on YouTube”.

WHO IS CHRISTOPHER BARNATT?

The workshop is run by Christopher Barnatt, whose ExplainingComputers and ExplainingTheFuture YouTube channels have received over 60 million video views, and whose ExplainingComputers channel has over 500,000 subscribers. Christopher was featured in Google’s “UK Book of YouTube 2018” as one of those “creators who are redefining the future of video content”. This workshop therefore allows you to learn from somebody who earns the majority of their living as a professional YouTuber, and to ask them questions.
