"The Big House came at the perfect time for me as it was approaching the summer holidays and I knew I needed to explore other opportunities because I couldn’t rely solely on work within universities during the holiday period."

Erica Horne set up her own business in Derby three years ago, running training sessions in computer-aided design packages for those working or hoping to work in the fashion industry.

Most of her clients have been in the education sector which can leave her with little work during the holiday periods.

As a result of the advice she has received on The Big House’s Elevator series, Erica is now reaching out to new, larger clients.

Erica said she would certainly encourage other businesses to access Big House support to take them on the next step of their business journey.

"I’ve been given the confidence to write business proposals targeting larger businesses. I’ve already started putting what I’ve learned into practice and am starting to see results and it is only a couple of months after I attended the first workshop."

"It really has proved so valuable for me. I’d say don’t assume you know everything. That first workshop (Business Refresh) I attended really did show me where things could be improved and different ways of working so businesses who can keep an open mind really will gain a lot from it."
